Mathematics

VISION:

Our vision is to equip the students with knowledge, skills and ability to move into a wide variety of professional fields.

MISSION:

To enhance the overall strength and all round personality of the students both in academic and non –academic activities by providing ample opportunities.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE:

After graduation, our students will be able to:
  • Plan, analyze and investigate engineering problems using contemporary design and simulation tools.
  • Promote the culture of interdisciplinary research among the engineering disciplines and applied mathematics
  • Explore the new emerging areas of science and engineering like Nonlinear Dynamics, Computational Mathematics and Cryptography
  • Sense the needs of their profession thus they will become cognizant of ethics, social responsibilities and capable enough to demonstrate knowledge for sustainable development
  • Communicate effectively and will work meritoriously as a team member and lead multidisciplinary teams.
PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:
  • Formulate and analyze mathematical and statistical problems, precisely define the key terms, and draw clear and reasonable conclusions
  • Use mathematical and statistical techniques to solve well-defined problems and present their mathematical work, both in oral and written format, to various audiences (students, mathematicians and non-mathematicians)
  • Read, understand and construct correct mathematical and statistical proofs and use the library and electronic data-bases to locate information on mathematical problems
  • Explain the importance of mathematics and its techniques to solve real life problems and provide the limitations of such techniques and the validity of the results
  • Propose new mathematical and statistical questions and suggest possible software packages and/or computer programming to find solutions to these questions
  • Continue to acquire mathematical and statistical knowledge and skills appropriate to professional activities and demonstrate highest standards of ethical issues in mathematics
