Welcome to the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Mahendra College of Engineering, Salem. The CSE department offers the UG and PG Degree Programme by providing quality Computer Science education to engineers with the ability to undertake research and solve real world problems with emerging technologies. The excellent performance of its alumni across the globe has enabled the department to maintain its strong reputation. The collaboration with companies has aided the department in providing a good platform on which our students thrive.

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering was established in the year 2005. It has a long standing history of producing highly specialized Computer Science graduates every year, and they have a high professional standing in software industries. The Department has signed MoU with many IT Companies to help in training and build a skilled resource based on leading software technologies. The faculty members from most of the reputed institutions in and around Salem get chances to interact with Industry Experts to understand the challenges and market trends in technology. The highly motivated faculties are certified by Mission10X on various middleware products. To be one of the best departments, the Department motivates and helps students in their overall development. The Department offers undergraduate B.E (CSE) program with an annual intake of 90 and postgraduate M.E (CSE) program with an annual intake of 18. Various special courses are regularly conducted on advanced topics, to bridge the gap between the university curriculum and the need of the industry.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE:

  • Prepare students  to comprehend the fundamental concepts in Computer Science and Engineering
  • Enable students to interaction between theory and practice for problem solving
  • Equip students to critically analyze current trends and learn future issues from a system perspective at multiple levels of detail and abstraction
  • Motivate students to continue to pursue lifelong multidisciplinary learning as Professional engineers and scientists and effectively communicate technical information, function effectively on teams, and develop and apply computer engineering solutions within a global, societal, and environmental context
  • Prepare students to critically analyze existing systems in a specific area and develop innovative solutions that cater to the dynamic nature of the computer industry, and may lead to entrepreneurial initiatives

  • Apply mathematical foundations, algorithmic principles, and computer science theory in the modeling and design of computer based systems of varying complexity.
  • Critically analyze a problem, identify, formulate and solve problems in the field of

  • Design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, ethical, health and safety, and sustainability in the field of computer engineering.
  • Function effectively on teams to accomplish a common goal.
  • Communicate effectively with a range of audiences and prepare technical documents and make effective oral presentations.
  • Analyze the local and global impact of computing on individuals, organizations, and society.
  • Recognize the need for and possess an ability to engage in lifelong learning, leading to continuing professional development.

  • Demonstrate advanced knowledge of a selected area within the computer science discipline.
