Biomedical Engineering

ABOUT US:

The Department of Biomedical Engineering was established in 2014. The department offers a four year degree program in Biomedical Engineering with an annual intake of 60 students. The BME department emphasizes teaching and research in the areas of sensor and measurements, pathology and microbiology ,Bio control system, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment I, Bio Materials and Artificial Organs, Biomedical Instrumentation, Radiological Equipment, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Equipment II, Pattern Recognition and Neural Networks, Medical Informatics, Rehabilitation Engineering. The Department conducts seminar, guest lecture & workshop that provide a forum for the students specializing in Biomedical Engineering from across the country to participate and interact with eminent professionals from the field. The department has always been on a progressive path, thanks to the experienced and dedicated faculty members who have a strong commitment towards providing quality engineering education.

The department endeavors to promote human health care through education and research.

MISSION:

  • To impart the knowledge of Engineering and Biomedical Principles to students to become a Good biomedical engineer.
  • To develop good industry-institute interaction.
  • To develop cost effective diagnosis for various ailments through Research.

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVE:

  1. To prepare students in fundamental concept to excel in post graduate Programme and Cater to the needs of the industry & research through rigorous education.
  2. To develop the students with the biological concepts and technical knowledge to solve and analyze medical & engineering problems.
  3. To provide broad education necessary to understand the impact of engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
  4. To create the awareness of continuous learning, professional ethics, benefits of team work and necessity of better communication skills for better professional practice with social concern.
  5. To provide a conductive academic learning environment to inculcate the qualities of leadership, excellence in professional career and to develop the confidence for long time learning for successful professional career.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES:

  1. Graduates will be able to design and conduct experiments, as well as to analyze and interpret data.
  2. Graduates will be able to design a system, component, or process to meet desired needs within realistic constraints such as economic, environmental, social, political, ethical, health and safety, manufacturability and sustainability.
  3. Graduates will be able to function on multidisciplinary teams.
  4. Graduates will be able to identify, formulate, and solve complex Biomedical Engineering problems.
  5. Graduates will be able to demonstrate an understanding of professional and Ethical responsibility.
  6. Graduates will be able to communicate effectively in oral & written form.
  7. Graduates will have the broad education necessary to understand the impact of Engineering solutions in a global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
  8. Ability to use the techniques, skills, and modern engineering tools necessary for Biomedical engineering practice.
  9. Ability to include societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.
  10. Knowledge and understanding of principles of management and finance in relation to Biomedical engineering projects.
  11. Appreciation of technological change and the need for independent life-long learning.
